Around 20% of people who sign up on myVersionControl never activate their account. There are several possible reasons for this, but in the main, spam catchers and a less than clear 'getting started' guide are to blame. In order to increase the number of users successfully signing up and actively using their accounts, we have made two changes to the website. The first is to get rid of the requirement to authenticate your email address. We've mulled over the security implications of these and we're happy that they are negligible. If for any reason, we are proved wrong, we can switch it back on instantly. Secondly, we have begun a radical overhaul of the support section. We are now including animated tutorials and walk through's in the getting started section of myVersionControl in the hope that the time it takes new users to get up to speed with the service will be greatly reduced.
Oh, and before you go, our developers are itching to try out their Ajax skills on the control panel, so you can expect some exciting new developments there soon too!
