A special Christmas present!

Just in time for Christmas we are pleased to announce that myVersionControl has smashed through the 100 user barrier. Thank-you to all our users helping to make myVersionControl the premier hosted subversion service.
Since our launch 3 months ago we have been growing organically at an amazing rate of more than 150% per month. We are well ahead of all our targets but that doesn't mean we will be resting! We have big plans for 2007 with a number of exciting developments including a face lift early in the new year. We wish all our customers the very best for 2007
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

50Mb product released.

Following customer feedback we have released a very low cost 50 meg product for those that find 1Gb overkill. There are no restrictions other than that of space.
Current users can upgrade to this account using their "myaccount" option in the control panel.

Subversion 1.4.2 installed.

The most recent update to subversion (1.4.2) has been installed on the site. This is classed as a minor update and all your current tools will be unaffected by this upgrade.
This is one of the best reasons for using myVersionControl - painless, hassle free and prompt upgrades delivered by experts! Enjoy....

myVersionControl approaches end of extended beta testing.

It is with great pleasure and relief that we can announce the end of the extended beta testing period of myVersionControl. We thank all users who have participated and all the compliments and criticisms we have received. We anticipate full launch this week which will include the full payment and upgrade functionality. We will be implementing a short grace period before requesting payments though out of thanks to our loyal customers.
Look out for the roadmap in the new version which will document exactly when and where we anticipate myVersionControl will be going in future. We look forward to hearing from you with your opinions on priorities!
Finally - thank you for your patience, understanding and help in creating the best subversion host in the world!

Server Upgrade Complete.

We are pleased to announce that the scheduled server upgrade has been completed. The most obvious change for the user is the installation of subversion 1.4.0 which provides an array of enhancements and benefits including, most notably, "huge working-copy performance improvements". To benefit from these changes you will need to upgrade your client however your current one will still work.
myVersionControl continually seek to provide our customers with the best tools available with the minimum of fuss. We are proud to (probably) be the only version control service to be offering subversion version 1.4.0

Upgrade of Subversion Server to Version 1.4.0 [Scheduled downtime notice].

11th October 2006 In order to maintain maximum security and to take advantage of new features there will be a planned outage of myVersionControl.com on Friday 12th October between 9pm and midnight (GMT) for the purpose of upgrading/patching packages. We appreciate your patience and remind users that they can continue to work on their working copies while the upgrade takes place.
See the latest features here: Subversion Version 1.4.0 release notes
Once the upgrade is completed myVersionControl will be running with subversion 1.4.0, one of the first commercial hosts to do so. The upgrade is entirely backwardly compatible and your existing clients will work with it. We do recommend you upgrade your client in order to use the latest new features.
Also remember if you have any worries about your data to use your live backup facility to download your repository to your local machine.

Trac has been upgraded.

We have upgraded the installed version of Trac
Trac is a fantastic piece of open source software enabling you to administer a project through the wiki interface as well as issue tracking and subversion integration.
We have upgraded the installed version of Trac from 0.9.7 to 0.10.0 . See the change log here: Trac 0.10.0 change log

A knowledgebase has now been added and continues to grow.

28th September 2006 A piece of functionality that myVersionControl has been sorely missing is a rich knowledge base to fully explain the many features we provide our subscribers with.
Rather than re-invent the wheel, we decided to acquire an 'off the shelf' system and integrate it into our framework. After reviewing many of the systems on offer out there, we chose Interspire's ActiveKB for its flexibility, features and the fair licensing agreement.
The Knowledge Base can now be accessed by clicking on the link above in the navigation bar, and is available throughout the control panel both as knowledge base and as context sensitive help.

A free starter account service has been added to our product offering.

As I was walking to the office last week, I heard a voice behind me mention Subversion. My ears instantly tuned in to what turned out to be a couple of college students talking about how they should version control the development projects they were currently working on. Not being the type of guy to miss an opportunity, I introduced myself and told them about myVersionControl.com.
To cut a long story short, I told them I would discuss with Martin the concept of offering a myVersionControl hosting account free to all students. The thought was that most students would go on to work in commercial development and ultimately purchase a full subscription.
The outcome of all of this is that we are proud to be able to offer to everyone a free and fully featured subversion hosting account. All the features of the pay accounts are available, the only caveat being that you are restricted to a total file size of 4mb.
To all the students at Abertay University - Hope you're enjoying the service, oh and go easy on the beers!

Free live backups now available for your projects

Martin has been working hard over the last week to implement a new service which will allow you to backup and download your repositories. We had initially intended to offer this as a value added - pay service, but after a weekend meeting, we decided that backups should be a part of the whole service our customers subscribe to. Create and download backups in your control panel at "Tools and Apps"=>Backups.

myVersionControl Launches

Our brand new subversion hosting service launched today. myVersionControl is run by my twin brother Martin and myself George Beaton and is the product of over 6 months of development. Martin brings a wealth of scripting expertise and is our in-house technical wizard. My skills lie in business development and (OK, not my strongest skill) DHTML and graphical web design and development.
Our aim to be the best Subversion host in the industry. Our strategy is to offer great functionality, an intuitive interface and lightning fast connection speeds at a fair and sustainable price.
